To Get This Job, You’ll Need To Drink Whisky And Travel The World

Job interviews can be a massive chore.

You’ve got to make sure your one fancy outfit is clean and ready to go. You have to prep your notes and make sure you know the company inside and out. You’ve got to make sure your handshake isn’t strangely limp.

It’s enough of a faff to make you think f*** it, I’ll just stay at this office forever. Who needs career fulfillment if it requires effort, right?

This particular interview is equally arduous.

Scottish whisky company Grant’s is looking for a global drinks ambassador.

As part of the job interview, they’ll require applicants to travel the world and drink a lot of whisky.

Ughhhh. What a hassle.

Now, to be clear, the interview isn’t as simple as ‘apply, get sent abroad, and drink whisky.’

Three lucky candidates chosen after initial rounds of interviews will be sent to three places each in October – one to Poland, Israel, and India, one to South Africa, the Nordics, and Colombia, and one to Russia, Taiwan, and France.

Those candidates will head around the countries encouraging people to drink whisky… by drinking whisky and organizing big whisky-drinking events.

But to get to that stage, applicants will need to pass two initial rounds of interviews.

The first is social media based, asking people to create a drink containing three ingredients (one of which needs to be Grant’s whisky, naturally) that captures their personality, and share it on Instagram with the hashtag #GrantsInterview.

From that round, Grant’s will select 250 people who they like the look of, and will send them an application form.

From the application forms, the company will narrow down those 250 people to just 20, who’ll then be taken to the original distillery in Dufftown, Speyside for a mixer event.

These 20 people will get two nights at a hotel, so even getting to this stage has perks, and will be set challenges to see how they’d perform in the job.

After that event, three finalists will be chosen – and they’ll be the ones sent around the world to drink whisky, with the best candidate finally being selected as the brand’s official global drinks ambassador.
